As a follower of Christ, there are some core truths that I believe and strive to live my life by.
There is only one God and He reveals Himself in 3 distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
He is righteous.
He is merciful.
He is jealous.
He is the Creator of all that is.
He is worthy of all praise and all honor.
The Bible is the holy, inspired word of God. While men were used as instruments to record the writings, everything within the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments was written by direction of God.
While often considered an ancient text, the Word of God remains applicable to our lives today. We are called to read it, to study it, and to know it.
By applying its truths, exhortations, and commandments to our lives, we can be transformed — and we can transform the world around us.
I was born into sin and from birth wanted no part of God. I hungered for the things that tasted good, that felt pleasurable, and that was offensive to a holy God. I proved that over and over again with the choices I made. I did things my own way until God reached into my life and drew my heart to Himself.
God chose me to be His own. And through the blood of Christ, my sins were forgiven and my soul set free.
As a born-again Christian, my heart now longs to please God… although my sinful flesh still wages war against my spirit. I often find myself desiring for the things of this world — things that God has said are not good for me — while simultaneously desiring with all that is in me to please Him. It’s a complicated and frustrating dichotomy of emotions.
It’s a dichotomy that I know I’ll battle for as long as walk this earth.
I know that I will find both challenges and victories in this world. But I also know one final truth…
God is always there when I need Him. And I always need Him.
